This year, the quota rocketed up 33 percent in Norway and Russia's Barents Sea cod fishery.
The increase not only set a record, it also got the wheels of marketing innovation turning at the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC), which is planning to launch a cod marketing campaign in the United States for the first time at the request of Norwegian seafood suppliers.
"The US has been a very important market for whitefish for a very long time," Karin Olsen, US director for the Norwegian Seafood Council, told IntraFish.
