In an exclusive interview in the latest issue of Seafood Processor, Peter Bamberger, also chairman of the Danish Fishing Industry and Export Association, questioned the logic behind producers attempts to precisely control the market to their own advantage and the detriment of buyers.
A “yo-yo price that is affecting market situation,” he said had resulted, impacting on salmon smokers in particular.
“Certainly the price increased a lot and they really suffered,” Bamberger said. “But we’ve been through these waves before, and these have sorted out the weaker companies.
