Innovation Norway, the state-owned industry promoter, has invested some NOK 300 million (€37 million/$47 million) to NOK 400 million (€49 million/$62 million) in researching the potential of king crab aquaculture in the northern region of Finnmark.
Its final decision will have a large impact on king crab fisheries, but also on a large number of customers that have been placing their hopes on king crab farming.
However, the organization remains undecided about what to make of the research’s results. As a result, it has ordered an independent party to carry out its own risk analysis based on the data.
