NOAA: Eco-label won't replace MSC, ASC

As the April 30 deadline nears for public comments on a potential new sustainability certificate from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Deputy Director Sam Rauch gave IntraFish more details on what the certification would and wouldn't be.

According to Rauch, if the US government agency pursues its own eco-label, it won't serve as a replacement for consumer labels such as the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) or Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), and would be limited to certifying only federal waters within the United States.

"It
