Japanese giant Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (Nissui) announced Jan. 22 it sold all its shares in its Indonesian shrimp farms to a Russian pollock catcher, Trawl Fleet Preobrazhenskaya Base OAO in a deal worth $15 million (€13.2 million).
According to the company's announcement, Nissui will forgo all debts accumulated by the Indonesian subsidiary P.T. Nippon Suisan Indonesia.
Nissui Indonesia is engaged in shrimp aquaculture in the country.
After the decision to withdraw from the operation as of the financial year of March 2012, announced May 15, 2012, Nissui halted the operation and was in process of searching for a company willing to take over the shares of Nissui Indonesia.
