In a letter sent Wednesday to King Features Syndicate, which distributes a column written by Oz -- better known as Dr. Oz -- NFI says two errors in the piece need to be corrected.
In a story written by Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen, the two wrote flaxseed, walnuts and hemp are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids.
NFI -- and Tufts University in Massachusetts -- say that is incorrect, as the type of omega-3s found in those plants is not the same as the more powerfully beneficial kind found in fish, and the human body cannot efficiently convert omega-3s found in plants to the kind from fish.
