Pole Filiere Produits Aquatiques, a French research group based in Bouolgne-sur-Mer, France, launched www.nutraqua.com to give users the chance to compare and contrast different species’ mineral, vitamin and fatty acid content.
An €800,000 ($1.1 million) investment went into the research, with 49 farmed and wild-caught species currently listed, Gwenaelle Cotonnec of Pole Filiere Produits Aquatiques told IntraFish.
“This is in response to the demands of consumers who want to know what they are eating and partly a reaction to the salmon scare a few years ago, although this project had already begun at that time” she said.
