A new report from the European Market Observatory for Fisheries and Aquaculture Products (EUMOFA) found a significant growth for fish finger sales at retail, a result of the product's "affordability."

While Alaska pollock raw material price fluctuated over the years, the final German retail price of fish fingers remained relatively stable in the past three years, the report found.

Germany is the main producer of Alaska pollock fish fingers, providing 45 percent of EU production and 53 percent of EU exports.

The EU market for breaded fish and fish fingers was estimated at 370,000 metric tons in 2012.
