However, there have been zero scientifically documented fish-related mercury poisoning cases among U.S. children. The poll of 1,011 Americans was commissioned by the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) and conducted by Opinion Research Corp.
The poll asked: “How many childhood cases of mercury poisoning from eating fish do you think scientists identify in the United States every year? “
Ten percent of those polled said about 100,000; 12 percent said about 50,000; 18 percent said about 10,000; 21 percent said about 1,000; 61 percent said more than 1,000; 16 percent said about 100; 7 percent said none; and 15 percent said they didn’t know or refused to comment.
