Juan Manuel Urgoiti, a former president of Banco Gallego and an independent director at Inditex, was elected Thursday as the new president of bankrupt Spanish fishing giant Pescanova, and told Spanish media his role is to “take charge of the whole process.”
His appointment was made by a new board of directors after the major shareholders, Damm Group, Luxempart and Iberfomento took control of the company with 70 percent of the vote.
Pescanova’s new board of directors will include Urgoiti, José Carceller (Damm), François Tesch (Luxempart), Yago Méndez, Fernando Herce Meléndrez (Iberfomento), Luis Ángel Sánchez Merlo y Ángel Legarda.
