The October 2014 announced merger of the Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners (LIU) and the Federation of Fish Processing Plants (SF) is set to be finalized by the end of March or early April this year.

Named Samtok Fyrirtækja i Sjavarutvegi (SFS) -- or Fisheries Iceland in English -- will have two industry heavy-weights as its top executives, Gudni Gunnarsson of SF, told IntraFish.

Kolbeinn Arnason (pictured above), the former CEO of LIU, has been appointed as Fisheries Iceland's new CEO, while Jens Gardar Helgason (pictured left), CEO of Fiskimid, has been appointed as its new chairman.
