Though sales only begun last year, the fish can already be found on supermarket shelves at Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, North England chain Booths, Ireland’s Superquinn stores and Intermarche in France.
The fish, from Australian waters in the wild, is also distributed by U.K.- wide foodservice company M&J Seafood and between 35-40 U.K. wholesalers selling the fish onto their clients.
Aquabella group-owned New Forest Barramundi started sales with whole fish, moved into gutted and is now investing cash into fully automated fillet production.
