The confirmation last week infectious salmon anemia (ISA) was indeed the disease impacting a salmon farm in Northern Norway no doubt made for an uneasy weekend for the country’s salmon farming companies and their executives.
ISA, as was seen in Chile -- and Scotland and Norway once before and Canada before that -- can devastate the salmon farming sector.
While Norwegian companies and officials are taking all measures to keep the disease out of their farm sites, the fact it’s shown up makes it possible -- if not likely -- other farm sites will become infected.
