“Strong demand in the US market for farm-raised Atlantic salmon has been largely responsible for the tremendous growth of New Brunswick’s aquaculture industry,” said the NBSGA General Manager, Nell Halse.
“Chile, also a major supplier to the US, has this year raised its exports by 50%. As a result, over the last ten months, the price of salmon in the US has fallen by half, a decline directly attributable to Chilean dumping,” she claims.
"The unfair trade practices of Chile have placed the salmon farming industry in Atlantic Canada at great risk,” also stated Glenn Cooke, president of the NBSGA.
