MultiexportFoodsreported the presence of algal blooms in “wide and various areas of Region 11” to the Superintendecy of Securities and Insurance (SVS), as required by law.
MultiexportFoods is the first company to officially report the impact algal blooms have had on its farms.
The company informed the SVS in a document Wednesday a CEO-headed group of company technicians went to Region 11 on Monday to assess the situation on site, finding algal blooms affected at least two of its farms.
"We can inform that algal blooms have seriously compromised two of the seven farms our affiliate operates in such region, and they’re likewise compromising a further four farms, but to a lesser extent," the company said.
