The Chile-based grower wouldn't name the vaccine it is using, saying only it's made in Canada and was used in that country to fight infectious salmon anemia (ISA).
"Due to the sanitary urgency of Chile’s salmon farming industry, the Agricultural and Livestock Department (SAG) has authorized the use of this product in Chile,” the company said.
The fish being vaccinated by Multiexport Foods weigh around 40 grams and are in the pre-smoltification stage, which is the physiological process that prepares fish to go from freshwater hatcheries to sea farms.
