The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) appears to be getting more popular with Europe's big buyers.

Retailers and foodservice companies have already launched 26 MSC awareness campaigns this fiscal year, which ends at the end of March, putting it on track for 30 by the end of the fiscal year -- that's a 67 percent increase over last year.

The names behind the campaigns include the world famous brand McDonald's and some 90 percent of the Danish supermarket industry.

Last summer, McDonald's France dove in head first to its MSC promotions with a 30-second TV ad on two French channels during prime time, which coincided with some of the matches during the European Football
