The revamped, Saatchi & Saatchi-inspired logo is not a huge departure from the existing design, but the MSC said Friday it believes the modification will “make the existing logo work harder and add more meaning.”

The new design will be available immediately, but companies can retain the old logo until their next product design update.

By adding the text "Certified Sustainable Seafood," the new design clarifies the eco-label indicates independent, third-party verification product comes from a sustainable fishery, the MSC said.

"We hope people [companies] want to move to the new design when they’re in the position to do so.
