Rupert Howes has been the chief executive of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) for eight years. Under his administration, the MSC has experienced unprecedented growth. On Wednesday I talked to Howes to get his reaction to the withdrawal of the Alaska salmon fishery from the MSC program.

IntraFish: I want you to go back to two weeks ago when the Alaska announcement came out. I’m curious where you were when you learned of this, who you heard the news from and what was your first reaction?
