MP calls for Young's task force in wake of Sainsbury's contract loss

Government, Young's Seafood and trade unions 'should be working together and doing all they can to support the company and its workforce,' Grimsby MP urges.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Great Grimsby, Melanie Onn, is calling on the government to establish a task force to secure the future of Young’s Seafood in Grimsby and safeguard the hundreds of jobs currently at risk.

She told the House of Commons that Grimsby already has the 17th highest unemployment rate in the country, reported ITV News.

Up to 330 jobs are currently at risk after Findus Group-owned Young's lost its fresh and smoked salmon contract with Sainsbury's to Marine Harvest Consumer Products.
