Owner Bill Bayne and his wife, Lovett, started Fish City Grill in March 2000, but Bayne isn’t new to the seafood business.

He started an oyster bar, Half Shells, in 1995, which eventually grew and became the Rockfish Seafood Grill franchise. Bayne sold out of Rockfish in 2000 and formed Neighborhood Ventures, Inc. to start the Fish City concept.

The chain has grown to 14 restaurants, 12 in Texas, one in Oklahoma and one in Arkansas. By the end of the year, new units will open in Colorado, Louisiana and Florida, Bayne told IntraFish.
