UK retailer Morrisons will focus on improving efficiencies of its fish production process and expanding its fish and seafood range, with its second processing site in Grimsby, Rob Smith, head of seafood operations at the group, told IntraFish.

The firm announced the deal to acquire the former Kerry Foods sites on Jan. 20, and is hoping to double is fish processing capability with the move.

Smith, who is currently heading the existing site in Grimsby, will also take over the helm at the new site, and said hopes are high the new facility will be up and running by the end of the year.
