The Halieutis Plan, as the program has been named, cover investments in both the fishing and fish farming businesses in Morocco and has been approved by King Mohammed VI.
Abdelfattah Zine, president of the Union Regionale de Souss Massa Draa, one of the agencies at the centre of development of the Moroccan fisheries sector, said the plan aims to develop a more “intelligent fishing industry.”
“We are looking to develop a more intelligent fishing industry that looks after the resources and brings in higher export values.
