More Russian salmon production is entering the pipeline for certification to the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard, two companies operating in the fishery told IntraFish.

Affiliated fish processing groups Bolsheretsk Ltd. and Rybolovetskaya Artel (Narody Severa) Ltd. have applied for certification to the MSC standard for a mixed species salmon fishery off Western Kamchatka operating near the Bolshava, Kikhchik and Opala rivers.

The fishery operates stationary trap, seine and drift nets targeting all six species of Pacific salmon: sockeye, coho, king, pink, chum and steelhead.
