In an interview with the Bio Bio radio station, Ugarte said workers are tired of being “pushed aside” by the authorities.
“We have joined several work roundtables, and we’ve already said this seems to be a front, but we haven’t had any concrete proposals so far,” Ugarte was quoted as saying.
The Labor Ministry recently announced it would introduce measures to help those that have been laid off, but he says there's been no help.
Lawmakers in the area have not put forward any proposals of help, and according to Ugarte, the workers feel powerless.
