Two Midwest US grocery chains joined the antitrust fight against the largest canned tuna companies in the United States, alleging the companies conspired to fix prices of their products.
Plaintiffs include Iowa-based Fareway Stores, Inc. with more than 100 locations and Wisconsin-based Woodman’s Food Market, Inc. with 16 locations.
The companies filed the lawsuit last Thursday in a Northern California district court in hopes of recovering damages, lawyer and court fees and secure injunctive relief for the tuna companies' violations the Sherman Act.
