Monterey Bay to list Australis barramundi as 'green'

Australis barramundi is about to be the first-ever open ocean farmed fish species listed as “green” or “Best Choice” by Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program.

The report, due out Monday, June 2, could unlock a whole new group of retailers and sales opportunities for the barramundi company and its operations in Vietnam and Turners Falls, Massachusetts, according to CEO Josh Goldman.

“It will be a huge marketing boost for us,” he told IntraFish. “The professional buying community that partners with Monterey Bay will only buy certified products.
