Monterey Bay officially lists Australis barramundi as "green"

As reported last week by IntraFish, Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program listed Australis' barramundi operations in Vietnam as "green" or "good alternative.

The last report, which was released in December 2006, listed the company's farms as "red" or "avoid," but since that time CEO Josh Goldman has worked with the eco-label to improve the harvesting practices for more than three years.

Ken Peterson, communications director for Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Seafood Watch program, told IntraFish since the last report was released, Australis has reduced its chemical use, improved habitat, and low or infrequent disease have all led to the improved ranking.
