Mitsubishi's newly created Chilean subsidiary -- Southern Cross Seafoods -- has agreed to buy a Chilean aquaculture company, Salmones Humboldt, reports the website Aqua.Cl.
The vendor is the Lecaros Menendez family, which owns the fisheries company Coloso which in turn owned Humboldt.
The price tag was set at $65 million (€ 47.05 million) for all shares of in Salmones Humboldt and its subsidiaries. In addition, Southern Cross is taking over debt of almost $59 million (€ 42.71), incurred after the infectious salmon anemia (ISA) crisis that hit Salmones Humboldt particularly hard, according to the newspaper La Tercera.
