The case of whether the Russian Sea of Okhotsk pollock fishery will receive certification under the Marine Stewardship Council's eco-label program took another twist Tuesday when the independent adjudicator invited representatives from the fishery and those objecting to its certification to consider settling their differences in lieu of adjudication.

Certification group Intertek Moody Marine announced Jan. 22 that the Sea of Okhotsk Russia pollock fishery should be certified to the MSC standard.

On February 12, the At-sea Processors Association (APA) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), filed objections to the certification, arguing the fishery lacks proper observer coverage and other conservation measures.
