The company reported production of 29,800 metric tons of head-on, gutted salmon from Chile, a 67.7 percent drop from the first quarter of 2009 and a 59.4 percent decline for the 12-month period ended March 31.
"The drop came as a result of the depletion of the Chilean industry’s biomass in previous quarters, due to the [infectious salmon anemia] ISA disease. Harvest volumes in Chile are expected to bottom out during 2010," the Norway-based company said in its annual report, released Wedneday.
