Canada's largest salmon producer Marine Harvest has initiated the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification process and will have the first two of its more than 30 operations evaluated next week.

Audits are scheduled for Shelter Bay and Marsh Bay farms in Campbell River British Columbia from April 21 through April 26, after the company signed the contract with ASC in February, according to Ian Roberts, communications manager for Marine Harvest Canada.

The news comes on the heels of the company's Norwegian operations first two certifications from the ASC in Tarmvikodden and Buksevika in Vest-Adger county, affirming the company's CEO Alf-Helge Aarskog's commitment to have all of its farms certified by 2020.
