The futures contract gives Marine Harvest the right to buy 5.8 million shares -- or 11.9 percent of those outstanding -- at a price of NOK 46.28 (€5.75/$9.07) by June 26.
Marine Harvest’s last major purchase of Aker Seafood shares came last September, when it bought 3.6 m illion shares.
Under the latest deal, the Aker 5.8 million shares will be held by DnB Nor until Marine Harvest completes the purchase, meaning Marine Harvest does not currently have voting rights on them.
