The Marine Harvest Value Added Processing (VAP) Europe business unit, based in Bruges, Belgium but including plants in France, the Netherlands and several other countries, is ramping up sales of value-added salmon products to the U.S. to cover the supply from Chile.
“It’s for retail and foodservice customers that would have been supplied by Chile,” said the company’s Operations and Sourcing Director Bertil Buysse.
"We’ve been supplying the U.S., with portions and other frozen value-added products since the start of the year, but it has reached full capacity last quarter,” he told IntraFish.
