Marine Harvest has worked since 2008with plans to build a new smolt production facility at Fjaera, Etne inHordaland County, Norway and has now sent an application to the authorities.
According to the company, thefacility -- which will be located on the banks of the Fjærelv river-- will be runas a recycling plant using fresh water and sea water.
The area where Marine Harvest plansto build was previously designated as a nature/recreation reserve for Etne CountyBorough, but was re-regulated for aquaculture in the 2011 regulation plan andconfirmed by the Ministry of the Environment in October 2012.
