Marine Harvest supplies salmon for new Waitrose brand

Waitrose in September began stocking hot smoked salmon from startup Distinctly Scandinavia in 77 stores, with a suggested price of £4.94 (€5.39/$7.87) for a 180-gram pack.

The salmon is sourced from "a number of producers in Norway including Marine Harvest," a spokesman for the company told IntraFish.

The high-end product is the first from the new brand. The pack contains a salmon fillet smoked using a traditional Swedish method producing a ready-to-eat product, hot or cold.

“'Distinctly Scandinavia' is a fantastic addition to our smoked fish range,” said Waitrose Fish Buyer Melissa Spiro.
