Marine Harvest ramps up pangasius sales

The volume of pangasius sold in the year to date has increased by almost a half, prompted by a move to supply cheaper product ranges for price weary consumers, Managing Director Jo Dekeyzer told IntraFish.

Marine Harvest Value Added Processing (VAP) enjoyed a healthy third quarter, with sales up 21 percent, and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) margins increasing to 5.9 percent.

Almost 2,500 metric tons of pangasius is expected to be sold by the division in 2009. ”It has proven to be a valuable addition to the product range,” said Dekeyzer.
