Marine Harvest has been granted permission to increase biomass at its Persflua, Norway site between the municipalities of Bjugn and Afjord, Norway. At the same time, the company will close down two of the group's sites.

The extension was approved by Sor-Trondelag County Council in November after the group applied for an extension in March this year. The site was originally approved for biomass capacity of 3,120 metric tons, which has now been increased to 6,240 metric tons.

Marine Harvest gained permission to operate at the Persflua farm site in February this year, a decision which the conservation society Fosen Naturvernforening filed an objection to with the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries.
