In October, Norwegian salmon giant Marine Harvest reported a case of the SAV-2 variant of the pancreas disease (PD) virus at a site in Nordfjord, Sogn and Fjordane, Norway. Now, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (FSA) announced the fish at the site must be removed or slaughtered.
The detection in Nordfjord was the first time the SAV-2 variant of PD was found south of More and Romsdal.
"FSA has decided that the fish must be removed from the area considered to be free of SAV-2.
