Norwegian salmon giant Marine Harvest removed a previous condition to its takeover bid for Cermaq, after news became public the Norwegian government will not back its offer.
The company said its previous offer was no longer conditional, and said it will only require acceptance from shareholders owning 33.4 percent in Cermaq, instead of two thirds.
"Given the very positive reaction from the private shareholders of Cermaq to a bid being launched, Marine Harvest will remove the previously announced condition that our bid for Cermaq will require acceptance for the sale of the government's shares," the company said in a statement.
