According to a statement sent to IntraFish on Sept. 1, Marine Harvest Chile began legal action against Jimenez ( pictured) for a “serious breach of his corporate duties,” while at the helm of the Norwegian salmon farmer’s Chilean operation.
Marine Harvest has filed an arbitral lawsuit against Salmones Sur Austral -- a company used in the alleged scam -- aiming for the arbitration to declare the annulment of contracts with this company, contracts Marine Harvest alleges were illegal.
These contracts saw Jimenez and Fernando Toro Riveros, the representative of Salmones Sur Austral, make $40 million in profit over a two year period, said the statement from the company.
