Mainstream buys shares in Norwegian salmon farming firm

Balangen Seafarm AS has two licenses in the Nordland region and Mainstream Norway AS holds 17 licenses in Nordland.

The purchase price for the 30 percent stake, and the number of shares involved, was not disclosed by Steven Rafferty, chief operating officer for Cermaq AS, parent company of Mainstream.

"It depends how it goes always. We're always looking for M&A activity, as long as the prices are right," Rafferty (pictured) told IntraFish. "Nothing is about to happen, but we have been growing in Norway since 2005, and we will continue to look for options to grow."
