U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, is urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to withdraw approval for restaurants to market the product known as "langostino lobster."

At stake, she says, is the reputation of Maine's signature industry.

"Use of this term is misleading to consumers and unfairly affiliates langostino with actual lobster to the detriment of the lobster industry in Maine," Snowe wrote last week to acting FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach.
