Last week’s talks in London ended without agreement but are set to re-start in Bergen on Tuesday (Jan. 28).

The continuation of the mackerel talks means the long-delayed EU/Norway talks to agree total allowable catches (TACs) on shared North Sea stocks due to start this week have been put back yet again.

They will now start in February, however, so far no date has been set.

Because of the delicate nature of the talks negotiators all the parties -- the European Union (EU), Faroe, Iceland and Norway -- were saying little about the details of the proceedings, leaving industry leaders unsure of what stage the talks have reached.
