At constant prices, the volume of the catch of Icelandic vessels decreased by 11.9 percent in August compared with the same month last year.

A large part of this decline was due to the halt to mackerel fishing, the Ministry of Fisheries said in July.

HB Grandi confirmed the situation in Iceland is ongoing.

"There is a [still a] ban on direct fishing of mackerel," Pelagic Manager Vilhjalmur Vilhjalmsson told IntraFish.

"Our vessels are still fishing Icelandic Norwegian herring in Icelandic waters, now about 70 miles East North East of Langanes.
