The lightly smoked king shrimp will be smoked in Scotland and available from U.K. retailer Morrisons starting in mid-August.
The product will be supplied by sister company Farne, the U.K.’s largest producer of smoked salmon. Both companies are subsidiaries of Iceland-based Alfesca.
The new product would “envigorate” the chilled category, said Paul Vita, marketing director at Lyons Seafoods.
“It adds choice and variety to the existing prawn offering and attracts consumers with a love of smoked fish, helping to further grow the king prawn category,” said Vita.
