"We went in there and thought at most this would take a couple of years. We missed that deadline but we're just happy we got it across the finsh line," Nick Furman, executive director of the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission, told IntraFish on Thursday.
The announcement comes one day after the start of the Oregon Dungeness crab (Cancer magister) season, and should present marketplace opportunities for those selling the crab, although it's unlikely sellers will get a price bump as a result of the certification, Furman said.
