The United States' largest fast-seafood chain has joined the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) to help ensure and promote the sustainable seafood it serves.

With more than 1,200 locations across the United States, Long John Silver's is one of the largest buyers of shrimp in the foodservice industry.

"As a seafood restaurant leader, our mission is to promote seafood and we are really focusing on sustainability," Marie Zhang, chief food innovation officer, told IntraFish. "Our top selling fish, Alaska pollock, has been 100 percent MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified for years.
