John Hocevar, oceans campaign director at Greenpeace USA, responds to IntraFish Editor Drew Cherry's column 'There's always a catch,' on the Bering Sea Canyons -- an issue the green group has been waiting to pounce on for years.

To the editor,

It is always nice to see IntraFish covering issues related to ecosystem based management and marine protected areas, which tend to be underrepresented in the seafood trade press despite their importance to fisheries and seafood businesses. Drew Cherry is right in pointing out that conservation organizations are frustrated with the pace at which the North Pacific Fishery Management Council is addressing concerns about impacts of fishing on the vulnerable seafloor habitats of the Bering Sea canyons.
