Fishing rules and regulations for commercial operators in south-eastern Australia will be made easier with multiple management conditions streamlined for the 2016-2017 season, according to the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA).
The direction, Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery and Small Pelagic Fishery (Closures) Direction 2016, comes into effect on May 1, 2016, for operators in the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery (SESSF), one of Australia’s largest fisheries and supplier of fresh Australian seafood.
James Findlay, CEO of the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA), said the changes remove duplication and unnecessary regulations that currently exist for some commercial fishers.
